Andrea Zvadova was born in Bratislava, Slovakia. She has worked as a fashion photographer for many years. More recently she has been experimenting with various alternative processes from the early era of photography. Her application of the cyanotype technique on a variety of materials have yielded unique and individual results. Andrea has demonstrated its versatility by printing onto watercolour paper, glass, silk and canvas. Her recent hand printed floral cyanotypes are reminiscent of summer walks through fields in the countryside. Andrea has also used an oil printing technique originating from the 1890s. Ink is applied to each print individually, allowing for greater control, but requiring considerable skill and patience. The final image is influenced by the artist’s dexterity, so that it is impossible to make two prints identical.
