Nina Archer makes one-off wall pieces in maple. Her relief panels are stained and hand carved and can be seen at exhibitions in London and in galleries throughout the UK. “My current work involves making one-off relief wall pieces carved in maple. The pieces have a broad association with landscape and are resonant of marks made by cultivation, ancient and modern.Working in design for the last 30 years has had a significant effect on my understanding of form, proportion and mark making and this has been instrumental in the development of a graphic approach to the work. Although the broad inspiration for the work is influenced by cultivated landscape and natural form, abstract pattern and repeats are a central theme of the pieces.”
