Kate MccGwires exhibition ‘Lure’ showing at The Beaney in Canterbury (from Saturday 28th March to Sunday 27th April), is a welcome visual breath of the contemporary in an otherwise static, archival environment. MccGwire uses sculpture and feathers to create abstract forms covered in plumage, that are at once both visually arresting and uncanny in their resonance within the space. Described as using “the language of nature’s forms to construct impossible creatures that challenge our perceptions of the authentic and the imaginary.”
