“Jungle Fever”   6th July – 5th August

Monday – Saturday

11am – 6pm

London Contemporary Art ventures into the deep jungle for a roaring exhibition supporting four animalistic based artists who are bringing the Amazon to WC1. Step down into the LCA basement to find yourself prey or predator viewing artworks from some familiar faces and new artworks.

Represented artist Keng Wai Lee will be returning with gorgeously rich and colourful paintings of birds and goldfish which are a synergy of decorative tableaux and depiction in paint on canvas of his memories and imagination.

Introducing a new artist to London Contemporary Art, Andrew McGibbon is a photographer who specialises in photographing animals with flash, human and non-human. Using vibrant colour experimentation with colour hues and smoke on set his is able to create a dynamic array of artistic compositions of animals.

Louise McNaught’s creations feature nature, animals, and the celestial realm in glorious, blazing neon hues, where the animals are God-like, sublime and ethereal in their luminescence. McNaught’s work is motivated by emotive and spiritual experiences which has manifested in a mixed-media approach. Her soft style suggests a delicate relationship between nature and ourselves, making a clear point about man’s destruction of nature – which flutters jewel-like in the balance.

Last but not least and welcoming another strong new artist into the LCA family is Katie Buckett for this exhibition. Katie uses her hyper-real painting skills to create juxtapositions between animal forms and human traits, forming surrealistic worlds where the viewer can both be lost within, and closely relate to, the scene in front of them. Adding to this the works almost fable-like scenes are given a sense of authenticity with rigorously specific realism, and with some of the work spanning 2 meters, allows the viewer to feel completely enveloped in the artist’s surreal world.
